The former Tartu communication station became a metropolitan house with lofts

In February, the most luxurious apartment building in Tartu, DUO Lofts, was ceremoniously opened. Located in the Old Town of Tartu on the corner of RĂŒĂŒtli and Laia streets, the house has one- to three-room apartments, two-story lofts, and comfortable common areas. Residents have access to an in-house gym, cinema, function room, and laundry room. In March, two cafĂ©s will open in the building – the salad bar Ralf Cafe and the bread palace TĂŒĂŒmian. Mr. Urmas Klaas, Mayor of Tartu, Kaspar Kissa, Project Manager of Scandium Kinnisvara, and Siim Kroodo, CEO of KRC Ehitus, announced the opening of the house with a tape cut.

DUO Lofts consists of two-house parts – the first building built during the Estonian era and the later extension. The building was used as a post office for Tartu in the last century. To send a telegram and later make a long-distance call, the townspeople set foot to this house. During the last year, both sides of the house were restored and completely rebuilt inside. Today, the house has 112 stylish apartments and lofts. The special feature of the house is the luxurious additional facilities that the residents of the house can use. On the ground floor, there is a cinema hall, a function room, and a gym. Two special cafes are waiting to open.

Maido LĂŒiste, Partner and CEO of Scandium Kinnisvara: We are proud that we were able to give new life to a historically very exciting building in the heart of Tartu. The most luxurious apartment building in Tartu has been born, which is unique in terms of elegant lobbies, common areas as well as trendy lofts.

Our goal was to create a special house where both new homeowners and home tenants feel good. Moving around the house today, we can say that in cooperation with the builder KRC Ehitus, it was a success.”

Scandium Kinnisvara Development Manager and Partner Kalle Aron: “DUO Lofts has been a project that exhilarates the entire team. The building was inspiring from the beginning. Our goal was to think carefully through the concept of the house and about every square centimeter in order to make the quality of life of the inhabitants of the house as good as possible. The abundance of additional rooms is unique in Estonia. This has been an important argument for both home buyers and rental investors. We have previously used the in-house gym in several Tallinn developments, where it is very popular. At DUO, however, we have taken a big step forward, offering both in-house entertainment and the opportunity to eat to your heart’s content without leaving the house. If you add a great location on the border of Tartu Old Town, it is the best place to live or stay in Tartu today!”

The author of the interior architecture of DUO Lofts is KAOS Architects. The builder was KRC Ehitus.
