Scandium\u2019s real estate portfolio has been enriched with a significant architectural and historical landmark \u2013 the company has acquired the S\u00f5jakooli 1<\/strong> building in Tallinn\u2019s Tondi district from Urmas S\u00f5\u00f5rumaa. The building is part of a heritage-protected barracks complex that weaves together layers of Estonian, Russian, and German military history.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Tondi barracks complex is one of the most iconic military heritage areas in Tallinn. Its Jugendstil buildings, decorated with red brick and limestone, were completed more than a century ago.<\/strong> The richly ornamented fa\u00e7ades have given the buildings a dignified and recognizable appearance throughout the decades. The S\u00f5jakooli barracks have stood unused for a long time and are now awaiting a new, meaningful role. \u201cThe Tondi campus area has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years \u2013 a former military zone has evolved into a vibrant residential and business hub. We are very pleased to contribute to this development by giving a unique historic building new purpose and life,\u201d said Maido L\u00fciste, CEO of Scandium Kinnisvara<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The reconstruction of the S\u00f5jakooli 1 building, planned for 2026\u20132027, will open the door to a wide range of uses. The building will feature modern office spaces and apartments, enriching the network of living and working environments in the Tondi district.<\/p>\n

A dynamic and diverse business environment will take shape within the building. Both smaller and larger companies are welcome \u2013 from creative studios to fast-growing technology firms. Renovation works on the building will begin this autumn, creating a complex that combines historical character with fully modern functionality.<\/p>\n
